Welcome!

January 1, 2020

Welcome to our brand new Blog!  I am delighted to introduce you to what will hopefully become an interesting and helpful snap shot of our world here at Design Vintage.  I’ll be honest – this is not the first time we have embarked on this journey but our spectacular fail at keeping the blog updated is now I hope a distant memory! There is a lesson learnt there that we don’t have to necessarily achieve everything we would ideally strive for when quite frankly there just aren’t enough pairs of hands/ hours in the day/ days in the week – you get the picture.  So .. my apologies for coming to this particular party a bit late in the day but I do hope you will join us as we try to share both a glimpse into the behind the scenes at DV as well as some helpful features, advice and interviews.

For those who don’t know the history behind the brand, do pop over to the ‘about us‘ page to learn more about the why’s and wherefores. It’s certainly going to be an action packed start to this year, with our brand new Guildford Store opening in January followed by a permanent London Store in the Spring! More about those to come and do follow us on instagram for the latest announcements, news and events.

Last year we gingerly dipped a toe in the London water with two pop up stores which have transformed our business and allowed us to reach so many new customers.  It genuinely never ceases to amaze me that we have grown so quickly, particularly in the last year, and that there are so many of you lovely folk out there with basically the same taste in interiors as I have!  We may have a lot more customers now, along with a shiny new warehouse and a gorgeous team of ladies packing your orders, but the fundamental idea behind DV remains – I choose every single piece myself and it always has to be something I would want to have at home.  Occasionally I do have to step out of my comfort zone and inject a bit of colour into the collection but basically I’m all about the whites and neutrals with a strong leaning towards black!

White Linen Sofa CollectionYou can categorise our collections under two main headings – Vintage and Non.  Our Vintage pieces really are exactly that (more about that to follow) and are lovingly restored and imported from Hungary, whilst the vast majority of our new pieces and accessories originate in Scandinavia, Denmark in particular.  No grand plan there from the start, but I am just always drawn to wonderful Danish Design and it fits perfectly with the older original pieces.

So that’s a brief introduction – hopefully some of you have followed our journey to some extent along the way and to those new to the brand do take a look around the website and as always let us know if there is anything at all we can help with!  Just leaves me to wish you all a fabulous New Year whatever that may bring!  For me I have no doubt it will entail a lot more sleepless nights, far too many to do lists and never enough time but of course I genuinely wouldn’t change it for the world! Bring it on 2020!!
