Summer is a time of warmth, brightness, and relaxation. While we all love to soak up the sun outdoors, sometimes the weather in the UK doesn’t help! So why not bring the essence of summer into your home? Explore how you can infuse the spirit of summer into your living space using a neutral colour scheme.

    Choose light and airy neutrals.

Opt for light and airy neutral colours as the foundation for your summer-inspired home. Shades of white, beiges and soft greys create a serene and refreshing ambiance. These colours also reflect natural light, making your space feel more open and inviting. This Ivory Slow Vase is the perfect example of introducing light and airy to your space.

    Add natural.

Similar to our last post, bring in a bit of nature! The summer brings about the beauty of nature so why not incorporate natural elements into your decor. Consider introducing  wooden furniture, wicker baskets, jute rugs, or rattan accessories. These elements add warmth and texture to your space, reminiscent of the outdoors during the summer season. Items you might like that add a bit of nature are our Suar Wood Stool or the Amala Rattan Headboard.

    Pops of colour.

While a neutral palette forms the basis of your summer-inspired home, don’t be afraid to infuse pops of colour. Choose accents that reflect the hues of the season, such as soft blues, sunny yellows (see our Oat Ticking Cushion below or our Ellie Recycled Cotton Throw), or muted greens. Introduce these colours with throw pillows, artwork, or decorative accessories to create a cheerful atmosphere. By using accessories to add colour, it gives you the flexibility to swap out colour schemes as and when you want, especially with the seasons.

    Botanicals and florals.

What better way to celebrate the summer than by incorporating plants, flowers, and maybe the odd botanical pattern into your decor? Bring the outdoors inside by placing potted plants in different areas of your home or vases with long leafy stems like our Faux Monstera Stem. If plants are not a strongpoint for you, go artificial! Again, these natural elements will add a fresh and vibrant touch to your neutral space.

    Play with textures.

To add depth and visual interest to your summer-inspired home, experiment with various textures. Mix and match different materials such as linen, cotton, rattan or seagrass to create a layered and tactile environment. These textures will evoke a breezy and relaxed summer vibe. The kind of vibe you get when you’re on holiday on a warm, exotic beach. Rika Nature Chair below gives us the holiday feeling all day long!

    Enhance natural light.

Make the most of natural light in your home by keeping windows unobstructed and using sheer or light-coloured curtains. Natural light not only enhances the neutral palette but also creates an airy and open atmosphere, perfectly mirroring the feeling of summer.

Bringing the essence of summer into your home with a neutral palette is all about creating a serene, light-filled, and refreshing space. By using light neutrals, incorporating natural elements, adding pops of colour, introducing botanicals and florals, playing with textures, and maximising natural light, you can effortlessly infuse the spirit of the season into your living space. Embrace the warmth and beauty of summer every day within the comfort of your own home.
